The interest in bikes comes from racing Motocross in South Africa for four seasons in the early eighties. We have been competing in road racing since 1992, when we started with a Suzuki RGV250. Blew up a lot, crashed a lot then in 1995 won the North Gloucester Clubs Formula 400 Championship.
Decided to move up to GP250's and bought a 1991 Yamaha TZ250. Won the North Gloucester Club 400 Open Championship in 1996. Went back to crashing and blowing up a lot until the later part of 1998 when things started going better. Ended up in Fifth place in the Superclub Championship.
During 1998 I got tired of being passed by a lot of newer faster bikes so at the end of the year went out and bought a 1996/7 Honda RS250 with some kit parts.
1999 was a good year even with some big crashes. I went faster everywhere than I had ever been before. The Honda was a brilliant investment and suited me perfectly. If it hadn't been for the crash at Snetterton and missing the final round at Brands I would have probable finished fifth in a very competitive Superclub Championship, as it was I finished seventh even missing the final two rounds.
For 2000 we went back to an RGV for the Scottish championships and bought a 1996 RGV250V which turned out to be very competitive. Actually it was probably too competitive as people complained about it being too fast and tried to say it was illegal.
For 2001/2 we decided to just concentrate on the New ERA Superclub championships and finished third and second respectively at the end of two very competitive seasons.
In 2003 we went back to the GP class with a 2000 Honda RS250, struggled to get used to it in 2003 but then in the few times I got out in 2004 started to get back up to speed.
