Donington Park - 28th March 1999

The start of the new season had mixed fortunes. In the first race I finished a good sixth place and went a second faster than I had ever been round Donington before. The second race I started from the eighth row and on the last lap was in 13th when the bike seized I coasted over the line in 25th.

Brands Hatch - 11th April 1999

Brands is a track I have never gone well round and also has a lot of riders that know it very well. The track has been changed from last year and I am told it was about a second a lap slower, so I was pleased to knock a second off my fastest ever time round the track even with these changes. I finished 10th in both 250 races and then 4th in the open clubman race, quite happy with the results.

Mallory Park - 2nd May 1999

Third round and I am getting used to this bike now, seventh in the first race, third in the second race. My first top three finish in the    Superclub Championship and more to come. Again I knocked nearly a second off my fastest ever lap times at Mallory. Thanks to Dave at Swona for the new tyres, they were needed!

Cadwell Park - 16th May 1999

Even though I knocked four and a half seconds off my fastest lap times from last year I still only finished 9th and tenth in the two 250 races, just shows how stiff the competition is this year. I am reasonably happy with the results, it keeps me in seventh in the championship but unfortunately all the people in front of me in the championship were in front of me in the two races so I am losing touch with them. The day ended good with a third place in the open race, which I led for the first half.

Pembrey - 8th August 1999 ( First Win of 1999)

Disaster, after a third in the first race on Saturday I arrived at the first corner on the third lap of the second race and found I had no front brakes all of a sudden. I managed to get round the first part of the corner then had to stand it up and head on to the grass. I probably had it down to about 60-70 mph (from 150!) by the time it went down, but ripped the muscles in my shoulder badly. End of weekend!
